Description
With 10 different creature tops, middles, and bottoms, there are 1,000 creature possibilities! And it can be a fun and creative activity to connect and communicate.
According to Erika Walker, our Kansas play therapist friend, many children visualize their anxiety, depression, or trauma and look for ways to combat those “monsters” in their heads. Here is how to use the book to help children cope:
- The child flips the pages and puts the top, middle, and bottom of their creature together to create their own MONSTER OVERCOMER. The creature is there to fight off the bad monsters in their head.
- The adult can make a copy of the mish-mashed creature.
- The child can color the MONSTER OVERCOMER to make it their very own. It can help deal with whatever the child is struggling with at the time.
Thank you, Erika for your brilliant idea and your passion to help children through tough times!
